Jennifer Hunter, ’03 BA English literature, is a classroom educator for grades 8–10 in the Clark County School District. She helped open Shadow Ridge High School and later taught at Leavitt Middle School and Centennial High School. After retiring from the district, she serves as Nevada partnership manager for Discovery Education.

Willie Romero, '95 BA Political Science, is now a flight attendant at SkyWest Airlines, a regional carrier based out of Denver, after a 30-year career in higher education fundraising and philanthropy.

Jordan Hayes, '23 BA Psychology, is a lead registered behavior technician and is about to sit for her BCBA licensing exam. Hayes graduated with her Master of Arts in Applied Behavior Analysis in December 2025 and released an EP with her band in October 2025. Hayes and her band were featured in Las Vegas Weekly (February 25 - March 5).

Alessio Luinetti, '09 BA Psychology and BS Biology, board-certified psychiatrist and USAF veteran, is a private practice owner at Rinnova Psychiatry in Colorado Springs and an equity partner at Zephyr Behavioral Health and Wellness in Denver, expanding his practice to Las Vegas. He is newly licensed in Colorado for psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy and is opening one of the first legal psilocybin healing centers in Denver, Zephyr Collective, as part of the state’s regulated framework, supporting psychedelic medicine and broader access to this mental health treatment.

Francis J. Beckwith, '83 BA Philosophy, is a professor of philosophy and church-state studies at Baylor University. In May 2025, he was appointed by the White House to the advisory board of legal experts for the Presidential Religious Liberty Commission, and in July, received the Russell Kirk Paideia Prize, an award presented by the CiRCE Institute to an extraordinary veteran educator.

Iris Hattersley, '07 BA and '12 MA English, wrote two books: Lucky Thirteen, a memoir, and My Name Is Jimmy, a crime novel. She is working on her third book, a biography of her cousin, Harry Reid.

Juergen Barbusca, '84 BA German and '02 MPA, left a demanding corporate job for a yearlong gap year living in a camper van. In December 2025, he published a memoir of the experience, No Overnight Parking: A Year of Vanlife, Discovery, and the Open Road. Midwest Book Review called it “an original, exceptional, and fascinating read from start to finish. As an author, Juergen Barbusca reveals a genuine flair for the kind of narrative-driven storytelling that keeps the reader eagerly engaged from cover to cover.”

Nathan Taylor, '06 Political Science, is CEO and founder of Taylor Consulting Group, Inc., a Las Vegas firm specializing in government affairs, land use consulting, and liquor and gaming licensing. An enrolled agent authorized to represent business owners before the Nevada Gaming Commission and Nevada Gaming Control Board, he previously worked with the Clark County Business Licensing Department, the City of Las Vegas, and former Nevada State Sen. Mark James. Taylor served as chair of the Nevada Young Republicans and president of the Clark County Young Republicans, and now serves on the UNLV College of Liberal Arts Industry Leader Advisory Council. In December, he was sworn in as the City of Las Vegas Ward 6 commissioner for the Parks & Recreation Advisory Commission.

Vanessa (Haroan) Tu, 17 BA Psychology and '18 M.Ed. Special Education, is the founder of Bright Minds, a California-based behavioral health agency with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians and technicians serving children with autism. Since graduating from UNLV, she has co-founded two startup ventures, launched behavioral services within California public school districts, and published a workbook for parents of nonverbal children on the autism spectrum. Her work focuses on building scalable care models that bridge clinical and educational settings. Her husband, Cheng Yang Tu, ’20 DPT, is also a UNLV alumnus.

Davy Phrathep, ’24 Ph.D. Clinical Psychology, recently came out of athletic retirement to make his international debut with the Lao National Baseball Team at the Southeast Asian Games in Bangkok. Returning to competition allowed him to apply the mental skills and performance psychology training he developed during his doctoral work at UNLV. He now works as a licensed clinical psychologist with Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, supporting elite youth athletes at IMG Academy. A member of the UNLV AAPI community, he said representing Laos on the international stage was a meaningful way to connect his cultural identity with his UNLV education.
