Virtual New International Student Orientation Overview

This virtual program will help you make a successful transition to UNLV. International students are strongly encouraged to attend orientation. All incoming students are required to complete the Online Pre-Orientation regardless of orientation attendance. A one-time orientation fee will apply to all incoming students.

Before virtual orientation, you must complete the New International Student Guide on WebCampus prior to attending. At virtual orientation, you'll participate in a special live welcome session with fellow classmates and learn about how to prepare for your first semester as a Rebel.

For questions, please contact the Office of International Students & Scholars at 702-774-6477 or by email at oiss@unlv.edu.

Please read your New Student Orientation Handbook to review important university policies. The handbook accompanies your orientation and includes resources for future reference.

Academic Advising – Fall Semester

Establishing a relationship with an academic advisor ensures that you meet degree requirements and accomplish your personal and educational goals. International students are required to make an advising appointment and meet with an academic advisor in order to register for classes. Advising and class registration sessions are not offered during New International Student Orientation. Contact your Advising Center to schedule an appointment.

As an international student, you’re required to enroll full-time with a minimum of 12 credits each semester. Whether you enroll in 12 credits or more, 9 credits must be completed on campus, not online.

Register for Classes - Spring Semester

All new students are required to meet with their academic advisor prior to registering for classes. Schedule an appointment at your advising center as soon as possible.

Family and Guests

Family members and guests are invited to attend UNLV Family Orientation. This unique program will address the priorities and questions that family members typically have.
