The addition of the Honors college special events throughout the week, also helped me feel more connected to my smaller home and realize the amount of other resources and people I have access to.
What advice would you offer new students?
I would advise them to definitely NOT take that 7:30 AM class. As someone that thought I could do it, especially switching from high school to college, it turned out to be much harder, given the extra burdens of life as an adult, extra travel time to the city with traffic, and more. I also would tell them to get involved with a club or activity that deeply interest them in their first year so that they can continue to build on it and explore more, building an amazing resume for when they graduate.

My biggest piece of advice is to say "yes" to everything. Even if something feels a little outside of your comfort zone or you're unsure about taking a chance, now is the time to try it. College is the perfect era to explore, and saying yes to new experiences can lead you to some truly amazing opportunities and friendships you never expected.
Growing up in Vegas, UNLV has always had a special place in my heart. I chose UNLV because of its diversity, but I will also be realistic and say I chose UNLV because of its cheaper in-state tuition costs and generous merit and need-based scholarship offers. I also chose UNLV because I was born and raised here, and I am closer to family and friends. And if you are an aspiring law student, you have the William S. Boyd School of Law right next door, and it is the only law school in Nevada.
What has been your favorite UNLV memory so far?
My favorite memory is that I realized in my sophomore year that I have continued to keep finding many new favorite memories at UNLV rather than stop at one, and now rather than finding them from the Rebel Event Board events, Honors Student Council events, or College of Liberal Arts events, I now get to create those memories.
What advice would you offer new students?
UNLV is not a commuter school unless you make it one. If there is one advice I would give if you are doomscrolling on social media, doomscroll on UNLV social pages where you will find so many fun experiences you would otherwise would have not know.

What advice would you offer new students?
My advice would be to give yourself grace. College is challenging, and adjusting takes time. Ask for help when needed, there are so many resources for students on campus. You are here and that’s what truly matters!
I chose UNLV because of the its Nevada-focus/community connections, and because of the affordability of the college education. In high school, I was inspired to pursue a career in law, specifically criminal law, and so having the chance to complete internships, rapport building-experiences and powerful opportunities here in Southern Nevada as a student has truly been second to none. On top of that, because of its location and unique positioning in the higher education space, the campus itself maintains many unique pathways to the experiences I hope to take part in to prepare myself for a legal career. The issue of affordability is also important to me, and so being able to graduate with a dual-degree and numerous minors without financial stress has been a significant positive that allows to focus most on my studies and involvement and less about how school will be paid for.
What has been your favorite UNLV memory so far?
My favorite UNLV memory so far has actually been competing as part of our UNLV Mock Trial Team! Traveling and learning new skills has truly been impactful for me, especially considering how I hope to become a trial attorney one day and eventually a judge. What advice would you offer new students?
My greatest piece of advice is to truly take every opportunity to get involved and find your passion on campus! This means going the extra mile at every road and opportunity. In your classes, don't just attend and leave lecture but seek to build rapport with professors who can serve as mentors for you! Look for opportunities outside of the classroom that make your college experience memorable and impactful, and prepare you for the world post-graduation! From extracurriculars to club sports, social activities and internships, there are so many opportunities to get involved and build your skill set and resume. As a final note, also always seek to attend the numerous campus career and graduate education fairs, these will get you to think ahead about what you hope to do with your college education and ensure every decision in undergraduate studies is intentional and sets you up for later success! UNLV truly opens so many doors and all you need to do is choose them and walk through!

What has been your favorite UNLV memory so far?
My favorite UNLV memory has to be working homecoming week! It’s a week full of events that lead up to the homecoming game and I love seeing the community having fun! It’s one of the many events that makes me feel at home.
What advice would you offer new students?
One piece of advice I’d give to new students is to use your resources! Whether that’s therapy, tutoring, or the food pantry there’s always somewhere or someone to go to for help. You will learn so much in these next 4 years so don’t forget to give yourself grace when you need it!
