A World of Dance
Located in the heart of Las Vegas, the Department of Dance strives to train world-class dancers who meet the growing needs of the entertainment capital of the world. The scope of the training exceeds the Las Vegas commercial dance form. The international exchanges, world-renowned guest artists, and high-caliber artistic training give UNLV students a global understanding of the art of dance. As a cultural center, the department of dance brings the residents of Las Vegas the highest caliber of artistic concert dance. UNLV is "A World of Dance!"
Spring Forward is the concert of milestone and capstone choreographed works and lighting by Bachelor of Fine Arts majors.
Concert highlights include the classic 1963 work Cantilever by Erick Hawkins, a significant 20th century choreographer of modern dance.
The concert features a reimagining of the 1910 Ballet Russe work, Firebird, with music by Igor Stravinsky.
Co-presented by philanthropist Susan N. Houston, the College of Fine Arts hosts the free annual Art Walk to honor the Las Vegas community for its dedicated support of the arts and culture in Southern Nevada.
