Oct. 1, 2026

Colleagues,

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost, the survivors, their loved ones, and all those forever affected by the tragedy of October 1, 2017.

We also honor the extraordinary compassion and courage shown in its aftermath, from the first responders and healthcare professionals who rushed to help, to the countless community members who donated blood, offered comfort, and supported neighbors and strangers alike.

Nine years later, the impact of that night remains deeply felt throughout Southern Nevada. As members of a medical school dedicated to caring for this community, may we continue to carry forward the spirit of unity, kindness, and service that emerged during one of its darkest moments.

Today, we remember. We reflect. And we remain united in our commitment to care for one another.

With heartfelt remembrance,
