Reduce Waste, Share Resources: Introducing the New RMS Chemical Transfer Program

Starting January 2026, Risk Management & Safety (RMS) is introducing a new chemical redistribution program designed to help labs share usable chemicals and reduce unnecessary waste. If your lab has chemicals in their original container that are no longer needed but are still in good condition, RMS will collect and store them for up to one year in CLB1-117. These chemicals will then be made available to the campus community through the CHIMERA ChemShare program for immediate use. Researchers looking for chemicals can search for available chemicals in CLB1-117, and RMS will coordinate the transfer to the requesting lab.

Are you ready to have your chemicals picked up? Gather chemicals in original containers that are in good condition (no dilutions or secondary containers will be accepted for this program) and place them in an area in the lab labeled “RMS Pick-up for CLB1-117”. Submit a Lab Cleanout and Closeout Request and indicate in the Additional Comments field that these chemicals are for transfer to CLB1-117. Someone from RMS will pick up the chemicals in a few days.
