Do you have experience wearing body armor? Researchers in the Dept. of Kinesiology and Nutrition Sciences at UNLV are conducting a study on the physiological differences between crouched and upright walking while wearing body armor.
The purpose of the study is to examine how much more strenuous walking in a crouch is compared to upright walking, and to determine how much lower body muscular strength is needed to perform well in a military-specific walking task.
You must meet the following eligibility requirements to be eligible for this study:
- 18-50-year-old male or female
- Have experience wearing body armor, or external load
- Comfortable performing high-intensity cardiovascular activity
- Able to commit to three 1.5-hour testing sessions in the lab
- In good health, without any serious medical conditions
- Free of any running- or walking-related injuries that may interfere with completing the entire study
Participation is voluntary, but you will be compensated for your time. You will receive $35 per session for your first two sessions and $80 for your third session.
- Testing location:
- UNLV McDermott Physical Education (MPE) Complex
- 4505 S. Maryland Pkwy, Las Vegas, NV 89154
