The Nevada Health Authority recently released the inaugural Statewide Healthcare Access and Recruitment Program (SHARP) RFA. The program supports projects that address Nevada's certified healthcare workforce shortages and improve access to care. With broad eligibility and a wide range of allowable project types, SHARP may be relevant to faculty working in areas such as workforce training, clinical services, telehealth, provider recruitment and retention, precision medicine, and clinical research infrastructure. The 2026 Nevada Health Workforce Needs Assessment identifies significant statewide needs in primary care, behavioral health, maternal and child health, specialty care, and health workforce training.

Because this is a new state funding program with a significant cost-share requirement, investigators are strongly encouraged to attend the information session before developing a proposal. The session will provide an overview of the opportunity, review the program requirements and Certified Areas of Need, discuss funding requirements, and answer questions from prospective applicants. 

The Office of Research Engagement and the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine Office of Research will host a virtual information session to provide an overview of the SHARP program, discuss competitive project characteristics, review the funding requirements and proposal development considerations, and answer questions during a live Q&A.
