The DJ Essentials Course led by Kelly Webb is part of UNLV Lifelong Learning, the university’s central hub for career-building programs, personal enrichment, and community-focused education.

Tucked in a spacious building just off Maryland Parkway, a couple of blocks away from UNLV’s Student Union, there’s a program that has become invaluable to hundreds of seniors. No, not the kind of seniors that are fourth-year students at UNLV, but rather retired and semi-retired people in the Las Vegas Valley who don’t believe that learning stops when life’s twilight years begin.

“Community.” “Curious.” “Expectant.” “Unified.” In one word, each person explains his or her feelings at this particular moment. Seated in a circle of red plastic chairs, an array of community spiritual leaders and UNLV students and faculty pass a microphone to introduce themselves at the “How to Be a Peacemaker” discussion group, part of the university’s ongoing Diversity Dialogues series.
