Published in the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships, the study synthesizes findings from 21 qualitative investigations, identifying eight major themes that go beyond the common stereotypes of online dating. The results suggest that motivations vary depending on age and sexual identity, and that existing survey tools may miss some of the reasons people turn to these platforms.
