Manoj Sharma (Social & Behavioral Health; Internal Medicine), as a senior collaborator with the GBD 2023 Road Injuries Collaborators, coauthored “Global, regional, and national burden of road injuries 1990-2023: A systematic analysis for the Global Burden of Disease Study 2023” in The Lancet. Public Health (Impact factor: 26.5). The study found that worldwide in 2023, there were 50·9 million road injury new incidents resulting in 1·34 million deaths, and 75·3 million disability-adjusted life years lost. The study underscored the need to strengthen emergency response services, improve road designs, enhance safety measures, and improve educational and policy measures.
