Manoj Sharma (Social & Behavioral Health; Internal Medicine), as a senior collaborator with GBD 2023 TB HIV Collaborators, coauthored “Global, regional, and national burden of tuberculosis and multidrug-resistant tuberculosis by HIV status, 1990-2023: a systematic analysis for the Global Burden of Disease Study 2023” published in The Lancet. Infectious Diseases (Impact factor 29.4). Globally, in 2023, the study estimated about 9.11 million new cases of all forms of TB, 1.22 million deaths (with the highest in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia), and 54.6 million disability adjusted life years lost. Efforts toward prevention, early diagnosis and treatment,  surveillance, and continued research are ardently needed.
