Manoj Sharma (Social & Behavioral Health; Internal Medicine), as a senior collaborator with GBD 2023 Mental Disorder Collaborators, coauthored an article titled, “Updated trends in the global prevalence and burden of mental disorders, 1990-2023: A systematic analysis for the Global Burden of Disease Study 2023” in the journal, The Lancet (Impact factor 88.5). The study estimated 1·17 billion prevalent cases of mental disorders globally in 2023, with an age-standardized prevalence rate of 14,210·7 cases per 100,000 population. Robust surveillance, educational, and policy measures are needed to combat this public health issue.
