Emma Frances Bloomfield (Communication Studies) published an article with co-author Leah Ceccarelli (Unversity of Washington) titled, "Bad Arguments, Bad Science, and Bad Consequences: A Response to an Anti-Trans Keynote" in Argumentation. In response to an anti-trans keynote address given at the International Society for the Study of Argumentation conference, we argue that the keynote contradicts its own stated standards of critical rationalism, misrepresents scientific findings on trans and intersex communities, and lends illegitimate authority to actions that are likely to have harmful consequences for society.
