Asma Awan (Dental) and Manoj Sharma (Social and Behavioral Health, Internal Medicine) presented a virtual talk titled, “Strengthening Local Public Health Workforce Capacity through Experiential Learning: Outcomes from an ARPA-Funded Workforce Pipeline Initiative” at the 2026 NACCHO360 Conference, held in Louisville, KY form July 13-17, 2026. The 60-minute talk presented a walkthrough of the ARPA Nevada Health Workforce Pipeline Initiative, a structured, paid, and experiential learning scholarship program built for public health students, to rebuild the governmental public health workforce pipeline in Nevada and beyond. It also mapped out the mixed methods summative evaluation for the whole duration of the project (from Summer 2024 to Spring 2026) and recommended practical guidance for health departments and academic partners for the continuity of such initiatives. Awan is also a doctoral student.
