Asma Awan (Social and Behavioral Health) and Manoj Sharma (Social and Behavioral Health, Internal Medicine) presented a paper titled, “Overcoming Workforce Shortages: Evidence from a Structured, Scholarship Experiential Program Linking Academia and Local Health Departments” at the Academy Health, Annual Research Meeting held in Seattle, WA from May 30 – June 2, 2026. The paper explained the summative activities and outcomes from Fall 2024 to Fall 2025 of the ARPA Nevada Health Workforce Pipeline Grant project. The paper also gave recommendations drawn from the SWOT and Gap Analyses to advance the placement of skilled public health workforce in government public health agencies in Nevada.
