Class Notes

Leslie Hooe

Leslie (Summerville) Hooe, ‘01 BM and '05 MM Music Education, works as an assistant principal for a 4th-6th grade campus in Palestine, Texas. She will begin an education law program in 2025 with high hopes of bringing positive change to her rural East Texas community. Hooe is a volunteer soccer coach for the YMCA and music director for the local community theater. However, she really just loves going home to her family: her husband, two boys, a cat, two dogs, and eight chickens.

Megan Lanz

Megan Lanz, '06 MM and '10 DMA, recently published a textbook with Cognella Academic Publishing (2024), titled Music and the Human Experience: A Guide for Informed Listening. This textbook is part of a larger paradigm shift in music appreciation instruction, leaving behind a Western-centric historical approach to a more inclusive application of how all music is used in our everyday lives.
