Our Institute’s Clinical Training Programs

UNLV PRACTICE is building the next generation of Nevada’s mental and behavioral health workforce through innovative, team-based, and intentionally interdisciplinary clinical training. The PRACTICE Clinic provides hands-on experience within a collaborative academic environment that integrates science, sound clinical judgment, and meaningful community impact.

Trainees benefit from:

  • Weekly interdisciplinary case rounds led by faculty deeply engaged in clinical practice
  • Ongoing training in evidence-based practices and structured treatment protocols, integrating  research, clinical expertise, and client lived experience
  • Learning and practicing patient-centered and outcome-driven care models
  • Immediate access to licensed professionals and postdoctoral fellows for real-time consultation and support
  • A training culture grounded in excellence, collaboration, accountability, growth, innovation, and authentic acceptance, appreciation and human connection

Pre-Degree Training

We partner with multiple UNLV academic programs to provide:

  • Bachelor-level externships for course credit
  • Master’s and doctoral practicum placements
  • Master’s-level pre-degree internships
  • Supplemental specialty training opportunities, including advanced experience in group psychotherapy

Our pre-degree trainees develop clinical competence within a structured, supervised environment that emphasizes interdisciplinary learning and community-responsive care.

Post-Degree and Residency Training

The PRACTICE Clinic offers structured post-degree and residency training that supports pathways to full professional licensure in Nevada, including:

  • Marriage and Family Therapist Interns (MFT-Is)
  • Social Work Interns
  • Clinical Professional Counselor Interns (CPC-Is)
  • Psychology Internship (Child and Adolescent Emphasis)
  • Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowships (Psychological Assistantships)
