UNLV PRACTICE operates from a research-informed, science-minded framework in all aspects of clinical care and training. While we are not primarily a research-generating entity, we approach service delivery, workforce development, and systems design with the rigor of scientists—systematically collecting data, evaluating outcomes, and refining models to ensure effectiveness and impact. In alignment with our strategic plan, our role is to strengthen the bridge between clinical care, training, and scholarship by supporting interdisciplinary projects that address Nevada’s most pressing mental and behavioral health needs.
Rather than functioning as a standalone research center, UNLV PRACTICE serves as infrastructure and applied laboratory space for faculty and students across disciplines who wish to pilot innovations, evaluate service models, or study questions related to training, access, quality, and outcomes. By embedding research capacity directly within a high-volume, community-facing clinical environment, we create conditions for meaningful, practice-based inquiry.
What We Offer Researchers
Turnkey Clinical Infrastructure
UNLV PRACTICE provides turnkey clinical infrastructure, including furnished clinical space, centralized front desk and scheduling support, secure electronic health record (EHR) access, telehealth capability, billing integration, and coordinated operational oversight. This allows faculty and student investigators to focus on advancing knowledge and improving care rather than building systems from scratch.
A Practice-Based Learning Environment
Our interdisciplinary training clinic offers a real-world setting for studying care delivery, evaluating innovative approaches, and strengthening workforce training models. Clinical services are always guided by evidence-based practice and the needs of the individuals and families we serve.
Quality Improvement and Outcomes Data
As part of providing high-quality care, we routinely gather information about client concerns, treatment progress, satisfaction, and trainee development. These data are used to improve services and, when appropriate and approved through university ethical review processes, may also support research that advances mental and behavioral health care. All research activities follow established IRB guidelines and informed consent procedures.
Grant and Project Support
Partnership with UNLV PRACTICE strengthens research and grant applications by offering:
- Access to an established clinical setting
- Structured data collection systems
- Interdisciplinary collaboration
- Operational coordination and supervision models
We are especially well positioned to support projects aligned with community priorities such as children’s mental health, serious mental illness, culturally responsive workforce development, rural outreach, telehealth, and integrated behavioral health care. And, we aim to support innovative ideas as well. Publications, Presentations, and Reports
Scholarship generated through UNLV PRACTICE partnerships translates frontline clinical experience and outcomes data into peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, and policy-relevant reports.
