Traffic impacts on Maryland Parkway in January and February 2026

The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) is continuing work on its Maryland Parkway Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project in front of UNLV. Entranceways to the university and various parking lots on both the east and west side of Maryland Parkway will be impacted intermittently as work takes place in front of them.

Please be aware of the following closures on Maryland Parkway that are expected to take place in January and February:

  • Entrances to parking lots B and C

    • The south entrance to Lot B and Lot C (located between the Alta Ham Fine Arts building and the Archie C. Grant Hall building ) will be closed for approximately 4 to 8 weeks, beginning Jan. 5. During this time, access to Lot B and Lot C will occur through the north entrance.

    • The Maryland Parkway BRT is building a new entrance to Lot B and Lot C. The new entrance will be located directly across from University Avenue and will include the installation of a traffic signal and crosswalk across Maryland Parkway. During this time, access to Lot B and Lot C will occur through the north entrance.

  • Cottage Grove Avenue at Maryland Parkway

    • This work was rescheduled to take place during January, however, the exact dates have not been announced. An update will be provided when those dates are finalized.  This will be a nighttime closure occurring from 9 p.m. - 5 a.m., daily for 1 to 2 weeks.

We encourage everyone to stay informed and to sign up to receive project updates via text or email directly from the RTC.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as the RTC works to enhance access to our campuses and the surrounding community. Read more about the Maryland Parkway BRT project on the UNLV News Center.
