Joakim Nyoni (Foundation) was selected and participated in the Institute for Educational Management (IEM) at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, in July. IEM is a comprehensive executive education program that prepares senior leadership in higher education to address challenges and opportunities that face institutions of higher learning.

Caleen Johnson (Foundation) and Stine Odegard (Service Learning and Leadership) have been announced as members of the 2019 cohort of Jameson Fellows.  In 2013, Gard Jameson developed the program to create a culture of greater cohesion across nonprofit sectors. This program will enrich the work currently being done by these departments and better connect UNLV to our community.

UNLV has received two 2018 Educational Fundraising Awards from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). The honors are given each year to superior fundraising programs at educational institutions across the country. Sharang Chaudhry (Math) and Jessica Nave-Blodgett (Psychology) recently were named by the Graduate College as recipients of the 2017-18 UNLV Foundation Board of Trustees Fellowship. Lori Candela (Nursing) received two UNLV awards recognizing her significant record of teaching excellence. Candela, who has taught at the university since 1999, earned the UNLV Foundation Distinguished Teaching Award, and is one of two faculty members to receive the inaugural UNLV Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Award.

Breanna Boppre (Criminal Justice) has been awarded the President's UNLV Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship for the 2017-18 academic year. Her doctoral dissertation research focuses on understanding the pathways of justice-involved women of color, and their criminogenic needs and strengths. Boppre and her work were the subject of an article that appeared on the UNLV News Center in April.
