What
Dr. Eric Topol, director of the Scripps Translation Institute, is the next guest of the UNLV Barrick Lecture Series. Topol was named "Doctor of the Decade" by the Institute for Scientific Information and is the chief academic officer of Scripps Health, a senior cardiologist practitioner at Scripps Clinic, and a professor of genomics at The Scripps Research Institute.

The Barrick Lecture Series presents nationally and internationally known speakers through a generous grant from philanthropist Marjorie Barrick.
Topol is the author of "The Creative Destruction of Medicine: How The Digital Revolution Will Create Better Health Care." The book discusses social networking, smartphones and the powerful new tools that sequence each individual's genome. Topol will discuss how consumer control of their individual information will revolutionize medicine.
Topol was named the Most Influential Physician Executive in the U.S. in 2012 in a national poll conducted by Modern Healthcare, and in 2009 was one of GQ Magazine's "Rockstars of Science." He is also one of the most cited researchers in medicine.
His stellar career includes pioneering the development of many medications that are routinely used in medical practice, and he is widely credited for leading the Cleveland Clinic into a top heart care center during his time there.
Tickets
Tickets are limited to two per person and are available at the UNLV Performing Arts Center box office off Cottage Grove Avenue at S. Maryland Parkway.
