Please join UNLV Film for a special event at 7 p.m. March 3 in FDH, Room 109. They will present a live screenplay reading of Riot in Bloom, co-written by film professors Roudi Boroumand and Brett Levner and cast by professor Kynan Diaz as part of his Live Screenplay Reading series.
Riot in Bloom will be directed by Levner in the summer/fall of 2022 with the help of film students and the local film community. Your participation in this event will help the filmmakers make a better film. After watching the live reading, we will ask you to fill out an online survey that will help us refine the script.
Synopsis
When Rose’s husband admits to cheating on her during her 40th birthday celebration, she is dumbfounded. She thought she had done everything right in life. Gotten straight A’s in high school. Gone to a top college. Dedicated her life to her husband and their home. But everything Rose knew to be true was horse shit. So, she embarks on a journey of self-discovery to find out who the hell she really is and what she actually wants out of life. This leads her on a series of bad dates, quitting her secure corporate job for a dead-end gig at a local coffee shop, hanging out with a bunch of emo juvenile co-workers, playing in a '90s Nirvana cover band, experimenting with drugs, and eventually finding her true calling in life when a homeless teen befriends her. Rose’s maternal instincts surface, and she wants nothing more than to mother this child. She wants this so badly that she doesn't realize love has entered her life...
The live reading will be paired with a '90s grunge rock playlist and '90s snacks galore. Bring out your old flannels and Doc Martens, and join us for a fun night of nostalgia!
