It's once again time to announce the winners of ENR Southwest’s annual Best Projects competition. For more than 25 years, the regional publication has cited the best in design and construction in Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico, and this year is no exception. Our panel of industry judges reviewed nearly 100 entries in a variety of categories.

However, groundbreaking research published in the journal Current Biology provides evidence that our perception of time is not governed by an internal clock but by the number of experiences we have. This study found that changes in brain activity patterns, specifically in the anterior cingulate cortex, indicate that our brains track the passage of time based on the accumulation of experiences rather than a steady internal clock.

Mortgage default notices in the Las Vegas Valley have been on the rise this year, according to a new UNLV report. Nicholas Irwin, director of research at the Lied Center for Real Estate at UNLV, said the number of default notices has been steadily increasing since January 2022.
