Frances Young
Biography
Frances Young is a licensed clinical social worker and therapist specializing in both maternal and paternal mental health.
Young is the Bachelor of Social Work Program and Admissions coordinator within the School of Social Work, teaching undergraduate students about the various career paths offered in the field. She serves on multiple non-profit boards that provide support in maternal mental health services, collaboratively with the birth work community.
As a clinician, Young has provided therapeutic services for children, teens, and adults in a variety of settings, including hospitals and the Clark County School District. Young is on the board of Postpartum Support International Nevada Chapter, and is an approved clinical supervisor for the State of Nevada Board of Examiners for Social Workers.
She has received the Children's Voice Award for her efforts to provide grief services to children in the Clark County School District, and was a speaker at the Southern Nevada Forum advocating for the continued need of social workers in school settings. Young is currently a Ph.D student with a specialty in disaster trauma, and a focus of research on maternal mortality and birth trauma involving women of color.
