Media gather near the university welcome table on the Thomas & Mack Center concourse for a b-roll/photo tour of the debate hall on Tuesday, Oct. 18. Representatives from the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) and UNLV gave media a "first look" at the debate venue and a chance to capture images, grab interviews with UNLV and CPD representatives, and capture the excitement building for the big day.

Jacob Thompson, director of UNLV's Sanford I. Berman debate team, summed up his experience in a Facebook post: "The final presidential debate of 2016 was held at UNLV, and I was lucky enough to be right in the middle of it all. October 19, 2016 will always live in my memory as the BEST DAY EVER! So many committed people worked so hard for over a year to pull this debate together, and I had an amazing experience getting to know and working with all of them."

Turns out he was in the first row, so I went over and introduced myself. He gave me a big greeting — he reads the comments — and we talked a bit. Then I took my first selfie ever, though he had to show me how to do it. Robert Lang of Brookings Mountain West at UNLV. Professor Lang had a busy debate week, participating in media interviews for UNLV by both land and air. On Oct. 18, Lang toured Southern Nevada in a helicopter with ABC News, offering insight into the region's changing demographics and its impact on the political landscape.UNLV President Len Jessup's many interviews during debate week included local, national, and international news outlets. Here he's interviewed by the Las Vegas Review-Journal's John Katsilometes as the debate hall takes shape.
