Notable: William Speer and Jeff Shih

William Speer (Mathematics Learning Center) and Jeff Shih (Teaching & Learning) served as co-chairs and organizers of the 47th annual conference of the Research Council on Mathematics Learning (RCML) that took place at the Alexis Park Resort earlier this month. The conference, which was attended by more than 170 people, was sponsored by UNLV, the College of Sciences, and the Mathematics Learning Center. The council is a professional community of researchers interested in mathematics and mathematics education who value collaboration and interdisciplinary efforts. A key focus of this research is to understand and/or influence factors that affect mathematics learning at all levels. Speer was a founding member RCML 47 years ago and has attended every meeting of the group since.
