Tina Vo (Teaching and Learning) and Holmes Scholar and doctoral candidate Mayra Marquez-Mendez (Educational Psychology, Leadership, and Higher Education) attended the 2025 Association for Science Teacher Education Conference (ASTE). They presented their study titled “Investigating the Connection between Science Curriculum and Elementary/Middle School Science Teachers’ Retention and Attrition.” Their research indicates that structured curricula enhance job satisfaction but don’t necessarily ensure long-term retention. The study highlighted the need for comprehensive support systems that address both the immediate and long-term needs of science teachers to keep them engaged and committed to the profession. This research provides valuable insights aiming to foster strategies that retain skilled science educators in our schools.
