Manoj Sharma (Social & Behavioral Health; Internal Medicine) as a senior collaborator with GBD 2023 Diarrhoeal Disease and Enteric Infectious Diseases, published an article titled, “Global burden of enteric infectious diseases, diarrhoeal diseases, and corresponding aetiologies, 1990–2023: A systematic analysis for the Global Burden of Disease Study 2023” in the journal The Lancet Infectious Diseases (Impact factor: 31). Infectious diseases of the digestive system in 2023 resulted in an estimated 1·27 million deaths globally. South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa were the most affected regions. Educational and policy interventions are needed to reduce morbidity and mortality associated with these infectious diseases.
