Manoj Sharma (Public Health; Internal Medicine), as a senior collaborator with the GBD 2023 Mental Disorder Collaborators, coauthored the article, “Burden of 10 mental disorders in low- and middle-income countries, 1990–2023, with forecasts to 2050: A Global Burden of Disease Study” in the journal Med (Impact factor 13.3). The study found that mental disorders, especially anxiety and depression, have been increasing in LICs and LMICs, particularly after the COVID-19 pandemic. This area in these countries is under-investigated and needs more resources for research, policy, and behavioral measures.
