Kavita Batra, Noehealani Antolin (Medicine), Sara Rosenkranz (Kinesiology and Nutrition Sciences), and Jorge Fonseca Cacho (Computer Science) received institutional seed funding through UNLV’s Interdisciplinary Research Development Area (iRDA) in AI and Big Data for their project, “Responsible AI in Survey-Based Research: Developing an Ethical Oversight Framework for IRBs Using NLP and Large Language Models.” The team will conduct a rapid scoping review using PRISMA-ScR guidelines to examine the use of AI across the survey research pipeline, develop a classification framework and IRB evaluation checklist for AI-assisted survey research, and generate preliminary insights to guide future validation and strengthen competitiveness for external funding.
