Kavita Batra (Medicine) and Ravi Batra (Public Health), along with the GBD 2023 Road Injuries Collaborators, co-authored a study published in The Lancet Public Health titled, "Global, Regional, and National Burden of Road Injuries, 1990–2023: A Systematic Analysis for the Global Burden of Disease Study 2023." The study reports that despite substantial declines in global road injury rates since 1990, road injuries caused 1.34 million deaths and 75.3 million disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) in 2023, with the highest burden in low-income countries. The findings highlight the urgent need for stronger road safety policies, safer infrastructure, and improved emergency care. The Batra duo has authored several influential studies addressing major global health challenges.
