Balakrishnan Naduvalath (Chemistry & Biochemistry) is part a research team that received the coveted Multidisciplinary University Research Initiative (MURI) award from the Department of Defense, Army Research Office. The interdisciplinary team from multiple institutions (Harvard; Stanford; University of Colorado Boulder; University of New Mexico; and UNLV) comprised of physicists and chemists will receive $6.25 million over a five-year period starting June 1. Naduvalath will receive $750,000 during this period to carry out theoretical and computational studies of quantum state controlled molecular collisions and chemical reactions. Potential applications of this research include emerging areas of quantum technologies such as quantum computing, sensing, and quantum control of chemical reactions.
