Angel Diaz and Mel Hernandez (Sciences Advising) represented UNLV at the 2026 NSHE Corequisite Conference on April 9-10 in Reno, Nevada, where they facilitated an interactive workshop titled “Advising at the Core: An Interactive STEM Workshop.” Their session engaged attendees in collaborative strategies to support student success in STEM corequisite courses.
In addition, Kevin McVay contributed to the conference with a poster titled “Centering Student Voices in Corequisite Math: An Advisor-Faculty Partnership to Improve Persistence & Retention,” highlighting innovative, student-centered approaches to improving academic outcomes. Together, their work showcased UNLV and the College of Sciences commitment to advancing advising practices and strengthening student persistence and retention across STEM disciplines.
