Ana Gonzalez, Sidath Kapukotuwa, Asma Awan, and Manoj Sharma (all Social and Behavioral Health) published an article titled “Promoting Healthy Weight with Dietary Tracking: A Scoping Review of Behavioral Interventions” in the Journal of the Academy of Public Health. Dietary self-monitoring, particularly calorie tracking, is well recognized as a behavioral means to enhance diet quality and support weight management. The review synthesized 11 studies and found that theory-based interventions delivered via mobile applications improved adherence to dietary self-monitoring and led to clinically significant reductions in body weight. Gonzalez and Awan are current doctoral scholars, while Kapukotuwa is a former doctoral scholar.
