The Department of Finance at UNLV’s Lee Business School offers comprehensive undergraduate and graduate degree programs that prepare students for careers in corporate finance, investments, commercial banking, and risk management and insurance. Undergraduate Degree Programs
Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Finance
The BSBA in Finance prepares students to understand the financial implications inherent in nearly all business decisions—from large corporations and financial institutions to small businesses, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies. Students can customize their education by selecting one of three focus areas.
Areas of Study
- Financial Management – how organizations make financial decisions, raise capital, invest in projects, and manage cash to maximize value.
- Investments – how financial markets function, how to analyze stocks, bonds, and other assets, and how to build and manage investment portfolios.
- Commercial Banking – training for careers in commercial and retail banking, credit analysis, lending, and financial services. The Commercial Banking Advisory Board supports this area with industry insights and strategic guidance.
Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Insurance and Risk Management
This program prepares students to identify, analyze, and manage risk in personal, corporate, and institutional settings. Students learn about personal and commercial insurance products, insurance operations, and enterprise risk management frameworks. Graduates are prepared for careers in underwriting, claims, risk analysis, and insurance operations across corporations, insurance firms, government, and nonprofit organizations.
Minor in Finance
The Minor in Finance gives non-finance majors a strong foundation in financial decision making. It enhances majors such as accounting, marketing, hospitality, engineering, economics, and entrepreneurship by adding analytical financial skills that strengthen career readiness.
Minor in Risk Management and Insurance
This minor provides students with applied knowledge in risk identification, insurance markets, and risk mitigation tools. It is designed for Lee Business School or math majors who want to gain skills valued in insurance and risk-focused careers or to apply risk management principles in other business and financial roles.

Master of Science in Quantitative Finance (MSQF)
The Master of Science in Quantitative Finance (MSQF) program helps students to obtain the newest knowledge of finance, advanced statistical and econometric skills to manipulate and analyze large financial datasets, and exposure to the latest Fintech applications.
Master of Business Administration and Master of Science - Quantitative Finance (Dual MBA/MSQF)
The dual MBA and MSQF program is designed for those who seek to develop a solid understanding of business administration with a focus on advanced analytical skills in finance. The program will provide students with the needed skills, knowledge, and tools to become visionary and creative business leaders with strong competency in quantitative finance. Students will graduate from the program with two degrees, an MBA, and an MSQF.
