About

The Department of Finance at UNLV empowers students to build successful careers in the fast-paced world of global markets and financial decision-making. With a focus on analytical rigor, risk management, and financial strategy, our programs prepare students to evaluate investments, manage portfolios, and make data-driven decisions that shape organizations and economies.

Our faculty combine cutting-edge research with extensive professional experience, creating a dynamic learning environment grounded in both theory and practice. Through hands-on projects, mentorship, and connections to Las Vegas’s thriving financial and business community, students gain the practical skills and confidence to succeed. Whether pursuing careers in banking, corporate finance, insurance, or financial planning, our graduates are equipped to lead with integrity, innovate with insight, and deliver lasting value.

Advisory Boards

The Department of Finance Advisory Board and the Commercial Banking Program Advisory Board are composed of experienced industry professionals and leaders who provide strategic guidance and feedback to the department. Together, they help ensure our curriculum, programs, and experiential learning opportunities remain aligned with industry needs, best practices, and emerging trends.

Our Partnership with the Kerestessi Center for Insurance and Risk Management

The Department of Finance works closely with the Kerestesi Center for Insurance and Risk Management to integrate industry-driven programming, experiential learning, and professional development into our insurance and risk management curriculum. Our department provides the academic foundation, while the Kerestesi Center connects students with the industry to offer internships, mentorship, case competitions, and direct industry engagement.
