Scholarships

UNLV institutional scholarship consideration requires being admitted by the priority deadline. Students must also submit a FAFSA and an Institutional Aid Application by the priority deadline each year. Some scholarships may have additional criteria, which are noted below. A change in residency status may change the amount of a scholarship and may also change a student’s tuition and fees charged.

UNLV Signature

An academic scholarship for undergraduate students offered at the time of admission, in recognition of their academic achievements. For initial consideration, students must be admitted to UNLV. Students must also submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the Institutional Aid Application by the priority deadline. There is no additional application process. If a student’s residency status changes, the amount of UNLV Signature may also change.

UNLV Opportunity

A scholarship for undergraduate students offered at the time of admission based on academic achievement and financial need. For initial consideration, students must be admitted to UNLV. If a student’s residency status changes, the amount of UNLV Opportunity may also change.

  • Audience: In- and out-of-state undergraduate students
  • Renewability: Up to 135 attempted credits, including transfer credits, with a cumulative GPA of 2.00. Must be enrolled full-time each semester (12 or more credits). Must complete a FAFSA or an Institutional Aid Application each year by the priority deadline.

Rebel Edge Program

The UNLV Rebel Edge program makes college more affordable by covering the difference between federal, state, and institutional aid and tuition and fees (up to 15 credits). This program also offers a $1,000 annual book stipend. This program is our commitment to making higher education accessible and affordable. Eligibility is reassessed each year.

  • Initial Eligibility: Must be a Nevada resident, be fully admitted to UNLV by the priority deadline, submit a completed FAFSA or Institutional Aid Application and Institutional Aid Application by the priority deadline, start in the fall semester, and have an Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) of less than $68,000. For dependent students, the parent AGI is used.
  • Audience: In-state undergraduate students
  • Renewability: Up to 135 attempted credits, including transfer credits, with a cumulative GPA of 2.00. Must be enrolled full-time each semester (12 or more credits). Must complete a FAFSA or an Institutional Aid Application each year by the priority deadline. Must have an AGI of less than $68,000. For dependent student’s parent-AGI is used.

  • Other Information: Alongside other requirements, students from Nevada whose household has an AGI of less than $68,000 will be eligible for the Rebel Edge program. Rebel Edge combines federal, state, and institutional aid to offer full-time students free tuition and fees for up to 15 credits, along with a $1,000 annual book stipend. Depending on a student’s federal, state, and institutional aid, they may also receive the Tuition+ Fees scholarship to cover remaining eligible tuition and fees. Students who were not eligible during their first year may become eligible in subsequent years if eligibility criteria are met.

Governor Guinn Millennium Scholarship (GGMS)

Administered by the Nevada State Treasurer’s Office NVIGATE – A merit-based scholarship available to Nevada high school graduates that pays up to a lifetime total of $10,000 toward eligible credits. This scholarship must be used within 6 years of high school graduation. It is allocated on a per-credit-hour basis for up to 15 credit hours each semester. Students receiving the Millennium Scholarship at UNLV will receive $80 per enrolled credit hour.

  • Initial Eligibility: Determined by the Nevada State Treasurer’s Office; Eligible students must acknowledge their award using their MSID.
  • Audience: In-state undergraduate students
  • Renewability: This scholarship is renewable up to $10,000 within six years of their high school graduation. Enroll and complete a minimum of 12 credits per semester, maintain a semester GPA of 2.75+, and meet Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements
  • Stackable: Yes
  • Type: Academic scholarship
  • Amount: Between $960–$1,200 per semester; calculated for 12-15 credits. This scholarship can be applied for during the summer session as a reimbursement based on eligibility from the previous semester. Full-time enrollment is not a requirement during the summer. Please contact the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships for more information.
  • Other Requirements: There is a two-strike policy. If eligibility is lost for the first time, the scholarship is suspended until requirements are met, a strike is received, and the student can use the next semester as a self-funded semester to regain eligibility. All other aid will continue to apply as long as eligibility is met for other aid types. Millennium will be automatically added to the following term once eligibility is re-met. If loss of eligibility is incurred a second time, the student will be permanently removed from the Millennium Scholarship program. Students who lost eligibility in a previous semester and received their first strike can use the summer to regain eligibility if they complete a minimum of 12 credits and have earned a minimum cumulative summer GPA of 2.75.
  • The scholarship expires 6 years after high school graduation or when the scholarship funds have been exhausted, whichever comes first.

Valedictorian Scholarship

A scholarship for eligible incoming first-year students who are ranked number one on their high school transcript at the time of admission. This scholarship will no longer be offered to new, incoming students admitted to any term after fall 2025. Students who were admitted for fall 2025 and prior will continue to receive this scholarship as long as eligibility is maintained.

President’s Scholarship

A scholarship for eligible incoming first-year students selected as National Merit finalists who have designated UNLV as their number one school choice by May 1.

  • Initial Eligibility: Declared National Merit Scholarship finalist, list UNLV as first choice by May 1, submit a completed FAFSA or Institutional Aid Application by the priority deadline, admitted by the priority deadline, must start in the fall semester
  • Audience: First-year students
  • Renewability: Up to 135 attempted credits, including transfer credits, with a cumulative GPA of 2.00. Must be enrolled full-time each semester (12 or more credits). Must complete a FAFSA or an Institutional Aid Application each year by the priority deadline.

Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE)

WUE offers significant tuition savings, amounting to several thousand dollars per year compared to the standard nonresident rate. WUE students are charged 150% of the in-state tuition rate.

  • Initial Eligibility: Must be fully admitted to UNLV, first-year students must have a 3.25+ unweighted high school GPA or eligible test scores (24 ACT, 1160 SAT), transfer students must have fewer than 90 credits with a 3.0+ GPA, fall semester start
  • Audience: First-year and transfer undergraduate students
  • Renewability: Up to 135 attempted credits, including transfer credits, with a cumulative GPA of 2.00. Must be enrolled full-time each semester (12 or more credits).

  • Amount: 150% of the in-state tuition rate
  • Other Information: To qualify for the WUE scholarship, students must be admitted to UNLV. No special application is required. Students are strongly encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and Institutional Aid Application or Institutional Aid Application (IAA) to ensure consideration for any additional assistance that may be available.
  • All students must start in the fall semester and enroll in at least 12 credit hours (full-time enrollment) each semester
  • First-year students must live in a UNLV residence hall during their first year
  • Transfer students must not exceed 90 transfer credits
  • Must reside in one of the following locations: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaiʻi, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), Guam, Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI), Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), Republic of Palau, and American Samoa.

External Scholarships

External scholarships are available each year from organizations not affiliated with UNLV. These organizations determine the criteria and deadlines for their scholarship, so read through all information carefully. The best time to apply for external scholarships is at the end of the calendar year before each fall semester. External scholarships are disbursed according to UNLV and the scholarship agency’s guidelines.
