The Academic Success Center provides the Jump-Start Scholarship for incoming first-year, full-time students who are Exploring Majors. This one-year scholarship is awarded in the Fall and Spring semester, pending eligibility, in the amount of $1,000 per semester ($2,000/year). The 2024-2025 academic year application is open until February 1, 2024.
To be considered for this scholarship, applicants must:
- Be admitted to UNLV as an incoming, first-year student
- Enroll in 12 or more credits per semester and maintain a 3.0 GPA
- Be declared as an Exploring Major
- Be a Nevada resident
- Complete an application and include a two-page, double-spaced short essay on the topic: “Please describe what UNLV resources/services you will use to help you reach your academic goals and explain why you chose these particular resources/services."
- Demonstrate financial need on the application form
Recipients of this scholarship will be required to:
- Write a letter of thanks to UNLV Foundation
- Complete two Academic Success Coaching appointments during the first Fall semester
