About the Faculty Advisory Council
The Teaching & Learning Commons (TLC) Faculty Advisory Council provides guidance, expertise, and strategic advice to the TLC. The main responsibilities of the Faculty Advisory Council include:
- Stakeholder Representation: Act as a voice for their constituent units and ensuring their interests are considered
- Offering Guidance: Offer insights, guidance, and recommendations to help TLC navigate challenges and make informed and democratic decisions
- Strategic Planning: Assist in development and review of of vision, mission, and strategic plans and ensure they align with UNLV mission
- Advocacy: Promote UNLV interests and mission about teaching and learning among their constituencies
- Evaluation: Provide feedback on TLC programs, services, and initiatives suggesting ways to enhance their effectiveness and impact
- Accountability: Hold TLC accountable for its actions and ensuring that it remains true to its mission
Members
The TLC Faculty Advisory Council is composed of 23 members: 17 elected representatives and 6 ex officio members. Founding members were initially appointed by academic unit heads; moving forward, Faculty Advisory Council members self-nominate and are elected by their respective colleges. Each member serves a two-year term, with the option to extend for a third year. Members are organized into four groups, and one representative from each group serves a one-year term on the TLC Advisory Board.
