Who We Are
UNLV’s student success team within the Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education is dedicated to planning, overseeing, and administering retention, progression, and completion initiatives including academic advising, peer mentoring, and first-year and beyond-success programming. Our team works to enhance and improve the student experience through the integration and coordination of campus wide student success efforts that increase involvement, course progression, and sense of belonging for students at UNLV.
The Office of the Associate Vice Provost for Student Success (AVPSS) is responsible for the institutional leadership, mission and vision, and ongoing continuous improvement of 11 college based academic advising centers, pre-health professions advising, campus-wide retention, progress, and completion (RPC) initiatives, and comprehensive student success programming available throughout students’ academic career. In addition, the office oversees UNLV advising extension offices: UNLV @ Nellis housed at Nellis Air Force Base and the UNLV/CSN Transfer Program housed at three of the College of Southern Nevada campuses. The AVPSS and student success leadership team develops, promotes, and leads training, professional development, certification, and recognition opportunities for both paraprofessional student staff and professional advisors. The overall assessment and evaluation of academic advising, campus-wide communication through the student success platform, leadership of the UNLV Academic Advising Council and university academic advising commissions is provided by the Office of the Associate Vice Provost for Student Success.
