About ALD

UNLV Alpha Lambda Delta (ALD) is the university’s chapter of a national first-year honor society that recognizes exceptional academic achievement during a student’s first year of college. Founded in 1924 and certified by the Association of College Honor Societies, ALD promotes scholarship, leadership, and service while supporting students early in their academic journey.

At UNLV, Alpha Lambda Delta provides members with:

  • Recognition for outstanding first-year academic performance
  • Leadership development and career readiness opportunities
  • Access to national scholarships, fellowships, and study-abroad awards
  • A community of high-achieving peers committed to academic excellence

Membership Eligibility

Students may be invited to join Alpha Lambda Delta if they:

  • Are enrolled full-time in a UNLV degree program
  • Earn a 3.5 GPA or higher during their first year at UNLV

Membership costs $60 total and is a one-time, lifetime honor that is nationally recognized by graduate schools, scholarship committees, and employers.
