Prepare for Your Semester
- Mark Important Dates: Review the academic calendar for start dates, drop deadlines, and finals.
- Order Course Materials: Search for your textbooks on the UNLV Bookstore website at least two weeks before classes begin.
- Review Each Syllabus: Carefully read each course syllabus to understand expectations, assignments, and deadlines. Add key dates to a planner or digital calendar, such as Google Calendar (available through your Rebelmail account).
- Explore Course Introduction Sections: Look for “Start Here,” “Course Welcome,” or similar in each WebCampus course. Instructors often use this section to explain how the class is structured.
- Introduce Yourself: Engage in early discussion boards and connect with your instructors and peers.
Maintain Momentum During the Semester
- Log In Regularly: Check WebCampus three to five times a week for new announcements, assignments, and feedback. Use the Calendar view to stay on top of deadlines across all your courses.
- Stay Organized: Use a planner or digital calendar to break assignments into smaller steps and manage your time weekly and daily.
- Reach Out Early: Don’t wait if anything is unclear. Email your instructor or attend virtual office hours before small issues become big ones.
- Participate in Discussions: Engaging in course discussions builds community and deepens learning.
- Organize Course Materials: Use Google Drive (included with your Rebelmail account) to create folders for each course and store important documents and resources.
- Use Support Resources: Access tutoring, coaching, and wellness services when you need help. Explore what’s available on the Online Student Resources page.
Wrap Up the Semester
- Submit Course Evaluations: Your feedback helps improve online learning experiences.
- Reflect on Your Progress: Think about what worked, what didn’t, and how you might approach things differently next semester.
- Maintain Academic Connections: A thank-you email to an instructor or classmate can go a long way. These connections can lead to future letters of recommendation, mentorship, or collaboration.
- Prepare for What’s Next: Check registration deadlines, review your degree plan, and schedule a meeting with your academic advisor to set yourself up for success next semester.
