Successful online learning requires that you are self-motivated and disciplined in order to meet the course requirements.

Most aspects of the online course occur asynchronously. This means that you, your fellow students, and your instructor do not need to be online at the same time. Usually, there are no set meeting times. One advantage is you have the flexibility to learn when and where suits you best. This can be challenging for students who learn best through face-to-face interaction with their instructors and classmates. However, for students who are organized and self-directed online education can be a convenient and rewarding learning experience.

Blended instruction, also known as hybrid instruction, is a teaching method that includes both in-person class meetings and online instruction.

You should reserve at least the same amount of time you would spend attending the same class face-to-face and studying for the class. Many students who earn A's in their fully-online courses report that their success is due to devoting no less than 9 hours per week of work per 3-credit hour course.

Even though you may not need to come to campus for your online class, you do still need to set aside time each week for it. This includes the 3-4 hours per week you normally would have spent in the classroom, as well as reading textbooks, reviewing lecture notes, completing surveys or quizzes, working on project activities, or posting to discussions. The good news is you don’t have to spend time driving to campus or walking to class! You also are able to ‘go to class’ at the time that best fits your schedule.
