The Office of the Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs is pleased to announce that the UNLV Writing Center will move from the College of Liberal Arts to Student Success within Academic Affairs.
Erin Zimmerman will continue as director of the Writing Center, and the center’s positions and assigned space will remain unchanged.
This strategic change recognizes that the Writing Center is a university-wide academic support resource and positioning the center as part of Student Success will strengthen its coordination with other academic and student-support services
The center will continue to serve faculty, staff and students through individual writing consultations, tutoring, workshops, and instructional partnerships across disciplines, as well as engagement with challenging and important questions related to written communication skills, writing proficiency, and AI and emerging technologies. The new structure will also position the Center to expand its reach and respond to changes in writing instruction and the higher education learning environment.
Importantly, the Writing Center will maintain its longstanding academic partnership with the Department of English, including continued collaboration in support of the graduate assistants who serve as Writing Center consultants.
