The Writing Center offers one-to-one and group consultations in a variety of modalities to help writers gain skills to feel more confident and prepared on all writing projects.
Hours of Operation
The Writing Center opens for the spring 2026 semester on Monday, Jan. 26.
We are pleased to offer multiple consultation options to accommodate your writing needs:
In-Person Consultations
- Mondays - Thursdays: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Virtual Consultations
- Mondays - Thursdays: 4 - 8 p.m.
- Fridays: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
- Sundays: 12 - 3 p.m.
OWL Consultations
Submissions are accepted Sunday - Friday. Refer to our OWL Turnaround Times for acceptance and return times.
Note: The Writing Center is closed for all university holidays.
Satellite Center Hours
The Writing Center resumes drop-in hours at various satellite center locations on Maryland campus on Monday, Jan. 26:
Lied Library (in Room 1280)
Open to all undergraduate students.
Mondays: 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Tuesdays: 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Wednesdays: 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Thursdays: 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Rebel Learning Lounge (in RHW)
Open to all undergraduate students.
Mondays: 5 - 7 p.m.
Thursdays: 5 - 7 p.m.
Student-Athletes (in LAC)
Open to UNLV student-athletes only.
Mondays: 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Tuesdays: 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Thursdays: Modified OWL process; by appointment only.
Undergraduate Workshop Series
Join the Writing Center to strengthen your writing habits and skills. This semester, we'll be focusing on starting out strong. Have a paper due soon that you haven't yet begun? Were you just assigned an essay for class? Attend a workshop in the series to learn strategies to set yourself up for success. We'll touch on topics such as turning your assignment prompt into a helpful checklist, organizing your ideas, and citing your sources. Bring your assignment prompt, and let's tackle your writing project together!

The Writing Center is free for all UNLV students, faculty, and staff. Our consultants work with writers at all levels and across all academic disciplines. If you are stuck on something you are writing, even if you haven’t started writing yet, schedule an appointment. You might want to try out a few consultants until you find one that you really like working with.
