Retirement Announcement: Cam Johnson

After more than 25 years of service at UNLV, Cam Johnson has retired from his role as director of information technology (IT) operations at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV.

Before joining the medical school, Johnson worked as the network operations center manager for the UNLV Office of Information Technology (OIT) and played a pivotal role in the design, building, and operations of a new data center for the university. Along with this, he also played a key role in the 2016 presidential debate that was held at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Before officially joining the medical school, Johnson was a liaison between the school and OIT. In this role, he developed a strong understanding of the school’s needs — an understanding that served him well as the first director of IT operations at the school of medicine.

Back in 2020, Johnson was interviewed and stated, “Coming to the UNLV School of Medicine full time was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me,” he said. “It’s given me an opportunity to contribute to healthcare in this valley in my profession. It is a good culmination of my career.”

On behalf of the school of medicine, we’d like to thank Cam for everything he has done for the school – most of which he would be too humble to let us mention.
