January Administrative Faculty of the Month Award Winner: Amy Check

Congratulations to Amy Check for receiving the Administrative Faculty of the Month Award for January 2026. Check serves as the digital collections workflows supervisor and lab manager within the University Libraries at UNLV. Her nominators wrote:

“Amy is an ideal student supervisor because every day she brings positivity, hope, and enthusiasm to the workplace and we all are motivated by her energy and shine. She meets weekly one on one with students to get to know them as people and customizes her coaching and mentoring to each one, focusing on their strengths and unique abilities. Amy also realizes the importance of making time for unstructured communication and team-building activities. Every month she arranges guest speakers, field trips, or special celebrations for the students to spend time together as a group and with the staff they work with. These activities require creativity, planning, and time management; but they pay dividends in the trust she establishes with her team and in the department.  When students encounter difficulties either in their work, the classroom, or at home they know they can rely on Amy. And they know that Amy has their back when they need to take a risk or take on a challenge. She is so much more than a supervisor, she is the glue that holds our talented students together as an exceptional team.”

The Administrative Faculty of the Month award recognizes outstanding colleagues who go above and beyond in their duties in advancing UNLV’s mission. The winning recipient receives a certificate and $150 in recognition of their contributions. Nominations for the February 2026 award are due by Feb. 28, 2026
