The UNLV offices of information technology and accessibility resources are proud to recognize Roberta Sabbath, assistant professor-in-residence and world literature coordinator in the UNLV department of English, as our Rebel Accessibility Hero for August 2026.

Sabbath embraced this accessibility era by enrolling in some of the earliest Foundations of Accessibility trainings after the passage of UNLV's ICT (information and communications technology) accessibility policy in January 2020. With the start of the pandemic in late March of 2020, she was among the first to continue in this critical orientation as UNLV moved solidly into remote instruction.

Sabbath included OAR in the planning of events such as a Veterans Choreographic Collaboration with the UNLV department of dance as well as virtual sessions with guest speakers in her courses. Over the years, Sabbath worked closely with the Accessibility Resources Team to review and optimize content in her existing courses and to oversee the installation of more accessible content into her newer courses. Rarely a semester has gone by without Sabbath working with OAR to ensure that her courses are as conformant as they can be.
