Michael Sanders (Dental Medicine) has been elected as secretary for the Nevada Dental Association by dental professionals throughout the state. He began his one-year term June 17. The association provides services to its members that promote the highest standards of care for the public, and inspire a pursuit of professional excellence and personal fulfillment through education, leadership, and communication.

Victoria Woo, (Dental Medicine) presented a poster, “Intraosseous Perineurioma Associated with Facial Cellulitis and Abscess Formation,” during the 2016 American Academy of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology annual meeting in May. Her study described a rare case of extraneural perineurioma arising in the mandible of a 13-year-old patient that presented as an expansile radiolucency with clinical evidence of cellulitis.

Robin Reinke (Dental Medicine) earned the 2016 Charles Craig Teaching Award from the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Dental Society. The national award recognizes one new dental educator each year who demonstrates innovative techniques in teaching the art, science, and literature of dentistry, and encourages students to be life-long learners. Dr. Reinke, who has been teaching full time for four years, received the award during the American Dental Educator’s Association meeting in March.
